Bunnies For Adoption
These are our current bunnies for adoption. Please fill out our foster/adoption form to get the process started!
Annabelle
Meet Annabelle! Annabelle was part of the same animal control seizure as Mirabel where a huge amount of animals were found living in horrible conditions.
Annabelle is shy but also has shown some sass. She is bolder than Mirabel. She is curious about people but still wary. At the moment, she will tolerate very brief petting but then will retreat. She would do well with an adopter/foster who is patient and willing to work at her pace to gain her trust. She would likely also do well with a bunny friend.
She is spayed and up to date on RHDV vaccination. She is very neat with her litterbox habits also.

Mirabel
Introducing Mirabel! Mirabel was rescued as part of an animal control seizure. She was found with a multitude of other rabbits living in horrible conditions. She is a beautiful bunny who looks a lot like a wild cottontail!
Mirabel needs a very special foster or adoptive home. Due to her experiences in the past, she is extremely shy and fearful of people. However, we have worked slowly with her and she has made great strides. You can tell she WANTS to trust but she is just fighting past demons. She needs a foster or adopter who is willing to work with her slowly and at her own pace. She would need a quiet household and someone with a kind, patient and gentle nature. We believe bunnies like Mirabel can find happiness and we are dedicated to finding her the right situation no matter how long it takes. It would be great for Mirabel to either find a home or foster to work with her or she would be great as a companion to a more confident bunny.

Psi
Psi (aka Simon) was dumped in an Irmo neighborhood probably when someone moved out of a rental property. It took a full day for us to capture him and multiple trips to catch another dumped bunny in the neighborhood. Psi was terrified both at capture and for the first few weeks at the rescue. As you can see, he has made great progress and is now taking treats from our hands. He also enjoys being petted and playing!
Our best guess on Psi’s age is between 1 and 2 years old. He will need an adopter who will let him progress at his pace. Here, with a calm environment, patience and love it has not taken him long to open up considering his past experiences. His litterbox habits have been good since neuter. He is currently in the process of being bonded to Billie and this has helped him have more confidence!
Psi is neutered and up to date on RHDV shots. He will need a yearly booster. If you are interested in Psi, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Waylon
This is Waylon! Waylon was dumped with another rabbit (Willie) at Sesquicentennial Stare Park in Columbia, SC with just a bowl of food and water. We can promise you’ve never seen a more handsome bunny than this guy. He has a gorgeous, glossy, jet black coat. Seriously, Waylon is the softest and silkiest rabbit we have ever met.
Waylon is a little shyer than Willie but he makes up for it with a big attitude. He is social, loves head pets, and loves to crawl all over his person. But he’s also not afraid to express his opinions with big bunny thumps and grunts. And he LOVES his snacks. Whether it’s his morning salad, his daily blueberry or special bunny treat, he will snatch it as fast as possible. Waylon is working on his litter box skills and they are improving. We expect them to improve even more after neuter.
Waylon is up to date on RHDV vaccination (yearly booster required) and is scheduled to be neutered the first week of August.
If you are interested in Waylon, please fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

GiGi
This is Gigi! Gigi was dumped with three other bunnies at Congaree Swamp in the midlands of South Carolina. A kind man who regularly goes to hike there was able to catch Gigi but despite trying his best, was unable to catch the others and they disappeared.
Gigi is still a baby under 6 months old. She is very outgoing and playful! She loves a good cuddle too. Gigi is very curious and loves to explore. She has a gorgeous black coat that is hard to capture through photos. She also has very good litter habits and has since she arrived. Gigi loves her hay, pellets, salad, and treats and we are working to help her gain weight. She was very skinny when she first came to us.
Gigi is fully vaccinated for RHDV (yearly boosters are required). She will be spayed when she is the appropriate age/weight. If you are interested in making Gigi a part of your family, please fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Coco and Caramel
Coco and Caramel are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Coco came to Hoppy Hearts SC after being dumped in a Columbia neighborhood. He had originally been purchased for meat. Five bunnies were dumped and only two survived. Coco was adopted but returned to us through no fault of his own.
After adopting Coco, his former adopters took in Caramel. Caramel was found by one of the adopter’s neighbors. She had been dumped in the neighbor’s yard. Caramel and Coco quickly bonded. So they came together when Coco was returned.
This pair is not only gorgeous to look at, but also fun to watch. Coco takes great care of Caramel and they love doing everything together! Both are friendly after a short period of getting to know you and settling in. Their litterbox habits have greatly improved since Caramel was spayed after arriving at the rescue.
Both bunnies are spayed/neutered and up to date on their RHDV vaccinations. If you have been thinking about a bonded pair but weren’t sure about going through the bonding process, here is the chance to adopt an already bonded pair. ❤️. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Coco and Caramel, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Benjamin
Benjamin and another bunny first came to the attention of Hoppy Hearts SC in late November/early December 2023 when one of our volunteers, who helps with capturing dumped bunnies, received a call about 2 dumped bunnies near a strip shopping mall in the Charlotte, NC area. The volunteer went to check out the situation and met an individual who said the bunnies were her pets and had escaped but she would catch them. The person was homeless and living in her car with the bunnies. Our volunteer came back a few days later and the person had gotten the bunnies back in her car. We offered to help with food and hay for the bunnies but she was definitely not interested. She loved the bunnies and was likely afraid we were trying to take them from her. The bunnies did appear well taken care of. Our volunteer left her card and also left a card with a business owner at the shopping mall in case needed.
Our volunteer later received a call from the business owner letting her know that the individual had been found deceased outside of her car. Our volunteer searched online to find where the bunnies had been taken and was able to find them at a local animal shelter. We were able to pull Benjamin but the other bunny was already adopted before we found out where the rabbits were.
Benjamin is being fostered by the same volunteer who took the first call. He has settled in with his foster and is beginning to relax and enjoy his new life. Benjamin is a confident bunny and is quite sassy! He is definitely an alpha bunny. Right now he is laid back and comfortable a lot of the time but still has days where he is more intense about things. He loves petting when he is relaxed and will “purr” in appreciation. We feel like Benjamin may do well with a friend as we were unable to get what may have been his bond mate from the shelter before they adopted her out and we wonder if he may be missing her. He will definitely need an experienced bunny home without children. Benjamin is a gorgeous bunny!
Benjamin has been neutered and has completed his RHDV vaccine series. He is ready for his forever family. If you are interested in adopting or fostering any of our bunnies, apply online at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Buckley
This is Buckley! Buckley was turned into Charlotte Animal Control by his former family. He had a mild respiratory infection and his former family did not want to pay for veterinary care for him. The shelter called us and we took Buckley in. After a visit to our vet and a brief course of antibiotics, Buckley is doing great!
Buckley is about one year old. He is a very curious and friendly bunny. He loves to explore his environment. Although he does not enjoy being picked up, he does love hanging out, snuggling, and getting pets. We are not completely sure, but we believe Buckley is deaf or hard of hearing. This does not stop him from being a fun, curious rabbit.
Buckley has been neutered and finished his RHDV vaccination series (booster will be needed yearly). We are working on his litter box skills and they are also getting much better since neuter. If you are interested in Buckley, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Boone
Meet Boone! Boone was found running loose in a Columbia area neighborhood. His owner was found but the person no longer wanted him. We believe Boone to be about a year and a half old. He is a petite Dutch bunny with gorgeous half blue/half brown eyes.
Boone is easy to fall in love with. He loves play time and loves to binky. He also loves head pets. It only took a few days in his original foster home before he was jumping up on the couch with the foster to hang out and watch TV. His litter box skills are very good too!
Boone has been neutered and has finished his RHDV vaccination series (yearly boosters needed). If you are interested in Boone, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Billie
Billie was found dumped at a Harbison area apartment complex. She was noticed standing out in the rain by a resident who contacted us. Two of our bunny catching volunteers went out and caught Billie.
Billie is a young female most probably around 8 to 10 months old. She is a friendly and curious bunny once she feels comfortable. She really dislikes being picked up and at first, she would actually cry when being picked up. However, she has improved and no longer cries. However, she does prefer pets with her feet on the floor and she does love attention and petting. She has very good litterbox habits. She is currently being bonded with Psi and it is going well.
Billie has been spayed and is up to date on her RHDV shots. She will need a booster yearly. If you are interested in giving Billie her forever home, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Alice
Meet Alice! Alice is a young adult bunny. Alice was dumped on a university campus in the Rock Hill, SC area. She had been fending for herself for 3 weeks at the least before one of our volunteers in the area was told about her. Luckily, our volunteer was able to catch her.
Alice is a beautiful all white bunny with ruby eyes. She runs to the door of her ex pen to greet you when you walk in the room but is still a little shy of pets. However, she is coming around to that very quickly as she seems to be a naturally social rabbit. She already has pretty good litterbox skills that should improve even more. We believe she will make someone a great indoor companion!
Alice is receiving her RHDV vaccination series and is scheduled to be spayed the first week of August. If you are interested in Alice, please fill out our application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044

Willie
Meet Willie (named after country music outlaw Willie Nelson ). While this Willie prefers for his grass to be called Timothy instead of Mary Jane, he does have the laid back, cool vibe of his namesake. This sweet boy was understandably very scared when he arrived. He and another rabbit (Waylon) had been dumped at Sesquicentennial State Park in Columbia with a bowl of food and water. And it was obvious they had not been well taken care of previously.
Since then, Willie has warmed up a lot, and he shows his appreciation for head scratches with lots of bunny purrs. He also loves to give lots of bunny kisses! He is progressing well with his litter box training and we expect that will improve even more once he is neutered.
Willie also has a smaller right eye. Whether it is from an old injury or congenital, the vet has confirmed it is not an issue. And while he has little to no vision in that eye, it doesn’t slow him down. In fact, it gives him a charming, winking look that has earned him the nickname Winky Willie!
Willie is vaccinated against RHDV (yearly boosters needed) and is scheduled to be neutered the last week in August.
If you are interested in Willie, fill out our adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/230096007721044
